e-Audio Productions partners with Supporting cast

e-Audio Productions partners with Supporting Cast by Slate to sell and deliver audiobooks through popular podcast apps.

Following major book publishers Penguin-Random House, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, and Hachette, e-Audio Productions has partnered with Slate, the online magazine and podcast subscription to sell and deliver audiobooks through Slate’s Supporting Cast technology.

How It Works The functionality is powered through Slate’s Supporting Cast, its technology. Supporting Cast hosts audiobooks on its servers and creates private RSS feeds, which can be inserted into any podcasting app that supports them, like Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts Pocket Casts, Overcast and more. Listeners can buy a book, and can then either listen online or they can tap on the app of their choice to have the feed automatically inputted. This means that listeners can now access audiobooks easily on their favorite podcast app without having to download a separate audiobook app.

Security David Stern, CEO of Supporting Cast, tells The Verge that its software automatically looks for suspicious activity and will revoke access if it suspects someone is sharing their private RSS link outside of a “very small flexible range.”
